Upheld!

Upheld!

There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand. Proverbs 19:21 KJV

The amazingly wise God created man in his image. God breathed into man and man became a living soul. All that God is has representation in man, and even though sin had come in to tamper with the original template, the death and resurrection of Jesus have restored the template. We are made a little lower than the angels, and crowned with glory and honour. All that God created have also been put under our feet. We live in the daily reality of who God is, and as we live daily, we show off God in all his glory and power.

How do I know this? Where is the proof of God's plan, purpose and intentions? The place where God has seen fit to plant and nurture this seed of greatness is our hearts. This is the place where he seeks to influence our daily actions, reactions and choices. His Spirit in us wants to impress upon our hearts the importance of allowing God do his work in and through us. It is natural to have and make plans; that is a reflection of God in our lives. However, my plans cannot be my most important consideration; it has to be what God's perfect will for my life is.

I am free to make plans; in fact, the world frowns at a planless life. I can lay the groundwork for all that I want to achieve, short, medium or long term, but I must never lose sight of one thing: it is only that which God permits that will happen. In all my planning, I must always seek God's face for what he wants me to be doing per time. Like Samuel, there is a danger that God has moved on to David, and I am still stuck in the past of Saul, no matter how attractive or predictable it may be. Am I stuck in the past, or am I caught up in the present, where God is at work now?

God's nature and power is such that cannot be thwarted or delayed. All of us would have to deal with God one way or another, or at some point in our lives. His counsel and purpose were established long before any of us came to be, so it would be foolish to think that I can come in now and change God's plan. If he permits it, it is because it lines up with his will. The amazing part is that even what we call 'evil' lines up with his will. Can I dare surrender totally to God, so he can do what he wants to do with my life? Plan, but also plan for God's counsel. God's time of favour is here.
