ROM 2:1 NIV
You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
How easy it is to find faults in other people, while not seeing anything wrong with your own life. How convenient it is to point out other people's faults and inconsistencies, while being cpmpletely blind to your own. We find it so easy to sit on the appropriation seat, apportioning blame to others, while giving ourselves a clean bill of health. Today's extract seeks to point this out to us, with a word of caution so that we do not belittle the mercies of God that we enjoy or deny the same mercy to other people.
I must sit down daily and examine my life in the light of the Word of God. It is the only mirror that tells you who you really are. People's opinions about you will keep changing based on what they can get from you or see in you; and because man's knowledge is limited, He doesn't see the big picture or the real you that God created. Why, then, do we seek to pattern our lives after people's opinions or expectations of us? Why do we crave the approval of people who are in the minority, no matter how many they are? Why base my decisions and actions on the actions or inactions of mortal men like myself, who may have selfish, ulterior motives for everything they do?
God alone is the God with complete absolute knowledge of every action and reaction of man, and He alone can judge appropriately. Let us judge our own actions in He light of the mirror of God's word and leave the motives behind other people's actions to the true and righteous judge. He will give due and appropriate reward to all men for what they have done. He cannot be deceived, because every gift, potential and attribute was given by the Creator himself.
Judge no man, show mercy to all, afterall, it is by the same mercy of God that you stand forgiven, cleansed and purified. His time of favour is here.
