For wherever there is jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry and selfish ambition), there will also be confusion (unrest, disharmony, rebellion) and all sorts of evil and vile practices. James 3:16 AMPC
Few Lessons:
1. Check your heart. Truthfully check it in the light of God's Word. What are the contents of your heart? How do you relate to other people's "success"? When it appears you are struggling and others are 'making' it, when it appears as if God has remembered everyone else around you and forgotten you, when it appears that you are struggling for space and attention with people you feel you are younger then you, less experienced than you or less mature than you, how does you heart react? The truthful response to these questions would reveal the state and contents of your heart.
2. It does not end with you alone. God has so intricately designed life in a way that what I need is in someone else. Nobody outside of God can complete me, but the requisite growth materials are placed in various people, who I will come in contact with in the course of my life's journey.
3. It then matters how I relate with other people. If my life produces junk, it will flow out and pollute others. If my life allows junk from other people, it will also pollute the good that God has deposited in me. It is therefore my responsibility and duty to ensure that my life is not a prepared ground for junk to fester and flow out to others. It must be a place where virtue, grace and love flow from. My life will definitely impact, but what I allow in or cultivate in my heart will determine the product and output of my life.
4. Once again, check your environment. How has it been lately? Before you go pointing fingers, please look inward; the problem may not be so much an external one, but an internal adjustment required. His time of favour is here.
