Doing Good!

Let Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in. GAL 6:9 AMP

What would God have me know?
1. Doing good can be tiring, especially when the target of your good works does not care what you do, or repays you evil for the good you have done. It is just important to note that God is not asking that I do good simply because of what the other person will say, but simply because he has asked me to do good.

2. Doing good always come with a reward; it just may not be the kind of reward you want or at the time you think it best. God promises a proper time- at his own convenience, when he sees fit and how he sees fit. One thing is however settled: whenever he shows up, he is always right on time.

3. The reward is also subject to the condition that I do not give up. This is the hard part. Why do I keep knocking my head against a seemingly closed door? Why do I keep loving the unlovable, helping the ungrateful and teaching the incorrigible? Simply because God asked me to. That should be enough reason for me. Nowhere in this verse is God asking me to align my actions to the reactions of the people he has sent me to. At no time am I to do good because good is also coming my way in return. What is key is what God has commanded, and what he has promised to reward.

I then have a choice- do I do the good expected of me because there is something to be gained, or do I do good simply because I want to draw attention to myself? Do I do good because the good God has commanded it, and I know he is one to keep his promises. I do not care what the reactions are; I just want to out myself in the line of God's amazing rewards. His time of favour is here.
