Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass. Psalm 37:5 AMPC
When I read God's Word, do I go looking for what suits me, or do i take in the full message that his Word has? We tend to break God's Word down to bits, claiming the parts that are easy, whilst choosing to ignore the parts that place responsibilities on us. We want to be blessed, we know the scriptures that speak on blessings, and we quote them daily. We must also remember that all of God's blessings have conditions attached to them, and they can only become real when we deal with God on his terms, not ours.
Look at today's extract. It ends with a blessing, stating that God will bring all our plans to pass. It does not start from there. It is a function of the One who is holding you up, the One who is pulling the strings and making things happen behind the scenes. First, I am required to commit my way to the Lord. What does that entail: it is to ROLL and REPOSE each care on God. When I roll it to him, I don't have strength to hold on to it. I don't go back and take it away from him.
Secondly, when I leave it all in his hands, I must trust that his power and grace is sufficient to take care of everything. I leave it all in his hands; after all, I couldn't make it happen by myself in the first place. The major focus of the devil's temptation of Adam and Eve was to take their eyes off God and to get them to focus on themselves and what they could get and become. That has been the strategy of the devil ever since, and he is always seeking ways to keep our gaze focused on ourselves, our problems, our circumstances, forgetting that God's help is always available, if only we ask.
The combination of committing ALL into God's hand, and trusting him to sort them out is the secret to the blessing. How would you enjoy God's blessings and favour if you are focused on the problems and the circumstances? How can God prove himself if I have not learnt to trust him with the burdens? Before I can claim the promise, I must relate with the Giver of the promise. I cannot take the gift if the Giver does not even know me as his own. I cannot claim the benefit if I have not paid the price.
As I go through life, difficult situations will come, but the only way of escape and victory is by surrender and trust. That helplessness is the way to God's unbelievable help. Trust him today, for his time of favour is here.
