For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Titus 2:11-12 KJV
The Universality of grace
All men, born of woman, have received grace. The fact that you are alive and reading this means you have received grace. Whether you know it or not, you have received grace. Of course, the next important questions are asked and answered below.
The source of grace
Grace is not grace if it is not of God. I do not know who else you can attribute unmerited favour and blessings to, if it is not the only wise God, immortal and invisible. He is the Source of all good things, and the one with an eternal plan, even before the world itself began. He is timeless and ageless, and his love for man knows no bounds. This is the God who calls out to all men, asks them to come to Him so He can change their lives and give hem eternal life.
The benefits of grace
What do I stand to gain from this grace? It is difficult to fully dimension the benefits in this limited piece, but the biggest benefit is to be secured for life, both down here and with God for eternity. God wants to bless, he wants to keep, he wants to impart life, but He needs my cooperation.
The demands of grace
Grace demands I live in line with the commands of the One who offers it. If God lays out the terms and conditions attached to his grace, can I turn around and then blame Him if I refuse to align with the conditions? Grace demands right living and daily dependence on God to live right. The supply required has been provided by God.
The earthly nature of grace
Grace only lasts this side of eternity. When I take my final breath or the Lord comes to take his own home in rapture, Grace expires. At that point, judgement is the only certain thing remaining. How you love down here is the preparation for your eternal reality.
The limits of grace
Grace does not compel you against the exercise of your free will. You were made like God; free to make a choice but also bound by the eternal consequences of your choice. Grace only lasts for as long as man's breath remains.
With all the above, it is very important to consider critically and carefully your personal application and response to this grace. How are you living now? Remember, the Lord returns some day soon. His reward is with Him, and He will give according to all that we have done. Pretence won't work; hypocrisy won't cut it. You are dealing with a God of absolute knowledge so make the approach with a sincere heart. He will supply the grace you need to live right and end well. His time of favour is here.
