God’s splendor is a tale that is told; his testament is written in the stars. Space itself speaks his story every day through the marvels of the heavens. His truth is on tour in the starry vault of the sky, showing his skill in creation’s craftsmanship. Each day gushes out its message to the next, night with night whispering its knowledge to all. Psalms 19:1-2 TPT
When people express doubt as to the existence of God, today's extract is just one of the many passages that underscore how foolish that position is. If you have never seen God with the naked eye, just stand outside at night on any day, and see the mighty array on display.
Let me just share a few definitions here: the moon is a satellite in the solar system; the sun is the star at the centre of the solar system, and is called the most important source of energy for life on earth; the many stars we see are called astronomical objects consisting of luminous spheroid of plasma held together by its own gravity. The earth is called the third planet from the sun, which is itself another star, and for now, the only astronomical object known to harbour life.
Did you notice even how complex words are used to describe the simple things we take for granted every day? Every day I wake up, I am reminded that there is a Power at work, holding up all things and making them work as they should. Once in a while, He reminds me that I cannot take Him for granted.
I read today's extract again and I am reminded that if I listen well, I will hear God's creation giving Him praise and testifying of His awesome power. His splendor is a story being told; his testimony is written in the stars as they confirm His might and power. Outer space, as confirmed by those who have made the unique journey beyond the earth's space, is a vast expanse, the limits of which is not known. The truth about his mighty wisdom is on public display in the sky, and day after day, night after night, there is a constant stream of information about the awesome power of God.
The question then is: Am I listening? Is God able to catch and hold my attention through the things He has made and done? Please note: the whole essence of the public declarations of creation is to point to God as the Power and the Presence. Any attempt to worship these things is a lack of understanding of what creation is saying. God wants me to see Him at work through the things I see daily, so if all I see are the mighty mysteries, yet I do not submit to Him, then the whole essence of creation’s testimony is lost to me.
God is at work. His work is seen in so many ways, but ultimately, all of his works praise Him and testify of His awesome power. When I have considered all these things, do they move me to submit to Him? Do they awaken in me a desire to know more about Him? May my life not waste the testimonies of God. His time of favour is here.
