Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24 KJV
Jesus speaks directly to his disciples here, and as it has been shown a number of times, these words are not for the multitude or the crowd that follows from a distance. The crowd loves the attention but not the commitment. The crowd loves the benefits, but would not put in the work required of disciples. Just as it was in the days of Jesus, so is it in our own days today too. The call is for all those who will dare stand out from the crowd desires and follow Jesus closely. Am I one of the many in the crowd, content to just exist, or am I seeking a close and personal walk with Jesus?
That call to follow Jesus comes with responsibilities. God has not called anyone to seek him in vain, and he has promised that all who come to him will not be cast away. However, when you come, note that it is a call to a life of total commitment, service and dedication to God and his assignment. When I have come in to God, my desires align with God's will. When He is all I know and have, all that I seek looks like him. That is why I get all that I desire, because my desires now line up with his perfect will. Is this true about me, or do I still need to sort out my personal pursuits and priorities?
Then the promise: I get all that I ask for, when my desires line up with God's will and I ask in faith. Faith is that ingredient that cannot be dispensed with when it comes to pleasing God. With faith, I am saying that I am not moved by the things I see but by the things God says. I am not about pleasing men but pleasing God. Even when things around me don't make sense, I get sense from who I know God is, and what he has said to me. In the final analysis, the world does not run by what I think, but by what God says, so it is his view and opinion that count. If I will get anything from God, the secret is in the place of a personal walk with God. Nothing else, no matter how popular, will work. His time of favour is here.
