Known by God!

Known by God!

Psalm 139:23-24 AMPC
[23] Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! [24] And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

This psalm was written by David, and even though the circumstances under which he wrote this song was not given to us, the words of this song portray deep reflections on life and its impact and direction. We read of the wisdom of God in creating man, and the amazing things He has put in place to ensure that man enjoys all that He has created him for. We read of God's Omniscience, when you see things like: "Lord, even before I say a word, you already know it", or where, by his own personal experience, David was able to confidently conclude that God's knowledge was amazing to him, more than he could fully understand. What of the amazing wisdom that put the human body in its initial form, as an embryo develops into the foetus, and then to the baby that is born when the stages of  development are now completed.

No one can fully understand or explain how fertilised eggs go on to become the human life that we see now, but there is a wisdom, power, grace and provision that make all these steps possible and viable. That is the God that David came to know and celebrate as often as possible. As the generations have come and gone, nothing has changed. God continues to create new life to populate and replenish the earth; He continues to show off His power, might and creative force all over the world as we see it today. There are parts of the universe that cannot sustain human life, yet God continues to sustain His creation as He sees fit. We see advances in medicine, science and technology, and the world continues to move at quite a fast pace. How do I view all that is happening around me? Do I see the hand or hear the voice of God in the midst of all the noise going on around me?

In all, we must not forget one immensely important detail which David asked: "Where can I go to get away from your Spirit? Where can I run from you? Part of the answer to the questions are in the verses above. There is a natural tendency for the fallen human nature to deceive itself. It can be tempted to see things the wrong way when it is convenient. It is only the One called The Truth who can help me see things the right way, so I can take the right steps. I have to ask the Truth to search me in the light of His Truth, so that whatever needs to be addressed in my life can be fully and properly addressed. This is a God who formed me, and He knows all about me, so I cannot pretend. Eternity is at stake. There is nothing this earth can give me that will be adequate compensation for missing eternity with God. Would you let Him do what He alone can do? God's time of favour is here.
