Taste, See

Taste, See!

O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good; How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him. PSALM 34:8 AMP

I know we have heard several times that it is dangerous to be led by the human senses yet today's extract seems to be harping on 2 of these senses, calling on us to pay close attention to what these senses say, and on that basis, establish an eternal truth. David was the one attributed with penning down this psalm, so it is obvious that he has a fair idea of what he is talking about.

What is the point behind the sense of taste here? Could it be that the proof of anything sweet, sour or poisonous is mostly by the sense of taste? Could it be that whatever goes into my body through my mouth has the capacity to affect my life forever? Could it be that God is asking me to test him by my sense of taste, see if he is worth the trouble, and if I would allow him affect my life for good?

Then the sense of sight. Usually, we say we are not moved by what we see, but it would appear here that it is how we see God that determines how he moves in and through us. If I havev this clear understanding that He is all I need, then I will see him as such and I will see all he does through those eyes.
