Kept!

Kept!

But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 KJV

Paul writes to the church in Thessalonica, covering many topics ranging from earthly impact to eternal realities. One thing is quite clear from all of Paul's teachings, and it is this: being on assignment for God does not stop trials and tough times from coming; the one assurance that matters is that God promises that He will never leave me alone or forsake me. He is with me, but He will test me. He is with me yet life will happen. He is with me, and at the end of it all, the purpose behind the pain will be made plain.

When you read a BUT, it is good to look at the position that has been taken prior to the BUT. Mortal men will be men, and because of the sinful nature, will naturally oppose all that is of God. The devil knows that the eternal plan of God for man is good, and he will do all he can to frustrate it. All over the world, men seek to oppose the work of God. Men are persecuted, being put to death or prison simply because of their faith in God. Then the BUT - the Lord is faithful. That is the hope; the silver lining for life.

The faithfulness of God is the reason why any of us can look forward with hope to whatever comes. The statement: 'The Lord is faithful' is not really subject to my consent or approval. It is a fact that has held true through several generations of men and dispensations, times and seasons. It is this nature of God that enables me look forward to trials, tough times and challenges; otherwise, I won't be able to cope. The mortal life is tough, and without the help of the divine, the mortal will always struggle.

That is why the help of the divine is required for stability and safety from evil. God has no problem with keeping me safe, and he has no problem providing me with stability, focus and direction, but the problem is whether I can trust him enough through the entire process. I cannot start in Him and seek to continue by power, wisdom or connections. It has to be a daily walk with the source of power. He does not fail, will not fail and has eternal supply of strength. Would you depend on Him? God's time of favour is here.
