For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment. Luke 1:37 AMP
Context and Conviction:
Let us consider the context of this verse, from the perspective of the past, present and future: God had promised a way of salvation from sin, and centuries later, the promise was about to be fulfilled. If you would offer a perfect sacrifice for sin, you had to present one that had no connection to sin. What did God do? He broke the natural causation of and lineage to sin by bringing forth Jesus through the virgin Mary. That was the sign that God was about to change things. Consider the time element between when the promise was made and when it was fulfilled, and you will know that God can be trusted to keep His Word. He is not frivolous; does not speak carelessly. His Word is His nature, character and witness, and He will not be found to be a liar.
In the event that Mary was still not sure how this would happen, the angel told her about her own aunt, Elizabeth, who gave birth to John the Baptist. This was another miracle: a woman beyond natural childbearing age was able to bear a son. Every part of the story, from the past prophecies of the birth of Jesus, to the actual birth, you see God's hand evident. Until God speaks or moves, men can speak or act as they like, given the oppourtunity, but once God has spoken or acted, I am yet to see the person who can change what He has ordained. The word 'impossible' does not exist with God; if He says it, and it has not happened yet, the time is not yet here. Once the appointed time comes, the appointment must take place. This is the God who speaks here.
Conclusion:
I need a word from God. This is the only thing that outlives all other experiences. The verse above makes a declaration about the sanctity and efficacy of God's Word. It says God's Word is imbibed with dynamic power, making it impossible for it not to be fulfilled. It carries God's imprint and nature, and because God has never and cannot fail, then, none of his word can fail. If God can make such declarations as these, why can I not trust Him for something that the world has already declared to be impossible? He who said it is both capable and able to do all that He has promised. Like Mary, all I can do is believe in God. Creation answers to its creator, and must supply resources wherever its creator directs. God's time of favour is here.
