Willing and Able

Willing and Able!

For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.
Philippians 2:13 AMP

Context and Charge:
Sometimes, it is good to amplify a matter so that its depth can be fully understood and its truth fully established. Too many times, we are tempted to think our strength, labour, intelligence and energy are enough to drag us through all that life throws at us. When it comes to the spiritual, there is very little that human ability can impact or change. Let that be the first lesson for me here: never be tempted to rely on that which is not from God to do the work that God commands. God is able to sustain whatever He ordains, and if He is not involved, no amount of human applause, approval or adulation will change God's mind.

God does not stop at the point of giving the strength required; that strength manifests in different ways and at different stages of the Christian experience. I cannot start in God and expect to continue or conclude in my own strength. So, God supplies grace so that I can be both willing and able to do the work God has commissioned me for. It is His work, his audience, His message, His platform, His Spirit. All I can do is to make myself available for Him to use. His grace is very sufficient but I must make myself very available. There is a lot God wants to achieve and I consider it a huge privilege that He thought it fit to use me for His purpose.

Conviction and Conclusion:
The discovery and pursuit of God's purpose for me is my greatest achievement. All of earth's provisions are not as important as God's plan. It is God's pleasure that I fulfil His purpose for my life. What pleasure would God get if I wander around the wilderness, stuck to a point and unable to move forward? It gives God great pleasure when my life celebrates Him and makes Him known. That is why my light must so shine before men, so they can see God at work in me. I must cooperate with God, so that His supply can lead to His glory being seen in and through me. May my life celebrate God. God's time of favour is here.
