Confess!

Confess!

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 KJV

The Inspiration:
The start point of a walk with God is a realisation of my weakness and need for God. There is really nothing in me that could make me deserve God's mercy, as I could not buy even a tiny bit of mercy for a lot of money. When God made man and placed him in the Garden of Eden, it was so that He could have unbroken fellowship with man. All was well until the devil came and sold evil lies to man. Man believed the lie of the devil and now, sin is the default setting of all men. It does not matter how nice you become eventually; my best is founded on sin, and my life was headed to eternal damnation and separation from God. This is the issue with sin; it causes a break in relationship with God, and until and unless it is dealt with, man has no route to reconciliation with God. The Bible already makes it clear that sin is the reason why it seems God cannot hear us, or his arms cannot reach us. His eyes are too pure to behold iniquity, and there is no other way, except by the cleansing blood, that sin can be fully atoned for.

The Contention:
In stepped the blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God. In and by Him do we even stand a chance of standing before God and being able to speak to Him. I note that the start point is the confession of sin. I must not come before God with a false air of righteousness; I don't have the type of righteousness God reckons with. The righteousness of man is like filthy rags before God, and only the righteousness given by His Son is the type that provides the right kind of cover. I must come by faith and believe in the Son of God, in order to enjoy the righteousness Jesus gives. I confess Him as my Lord and Saviour, ask Him to take over my heart, and He supplies all the grace and help I need in order to live right. By the nature of God, He will not turn His back on the prayer of repentance from a sinner. If I can only come to God with a sincere heart of repentance, being truly sorry for my sin, He will take me back, wash me clean and set my feet on the path to eternal life.

The Conclusion:
He has power to forgive. No other God can make such a claim. He has power to cleanse from the stain of sin, and then give a fresh, clean start. With confession comes possession. When I turn my back on sin, I am telling God I recognize His power to deliver from death, which is the end result of sin. All of us were subject to it until we came to Jesus. As I come, I receive the life and nature of God, which helps me to live above the power, reach and effect of sin. The blood is the purifying and cleansing agent; the blood has made a way to access back to God. The blood speaks of better things than the blood of Abel. Where would any of us be without the blood? If I will truly be grateful, I must watch my life closely going forward. I can't live as I please, or go wherever I please. I have a new master now, and He must be pleased with the product of my life. Can I say right now that God is indeed glorified in me? God's time of favour is here.
