Isaiah 55:11 AMP
[11] So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
The Context and Focus:
The verse above is set against a number of declarations made by the God who has power and authority to make them. When one wants to know the ability and capacity of a person to achieve his objectives, you look at previous experiences and antecedents. Has this person ever said anything that came to pass in the past? Does anything in the present look like what he has accurately predicted? Is there anything in the present that looks like the future can be predicted with some form of accuracy? That is the person you can truly call powerful. Men can look at recent events in the past, and with some scientific and technical information or knowledge, predict what may happen in the future. However, from experience, it is clear that these science-based predictions do fall apart in the face of the Omniscient God. This is why the personal knowledge of this God has to be my biggest and most important pursuit.
The Message:
This is a God with power, authority, wisdom, might, strength, vision, ability, capacity and capability beyond anything my feeble mind can grasp, fathom or imagine. Since the account of creation as we read it in Genesis, God has been keeping and preserving his own creation, raising up and bringing down kingdoms and dispensations in line with His perfect will. No matter how hard man tries, the clock has not stopped working. Day and night have not ceased to work, and the seasons have not stopped running like clockwork. When a man sows in the ground, as long as the supporting conditions are right, the seed will always lead to the fruit that looks like the seed that was planted. Have you ever considered that if God is able to sustain the complex set up of this present world, what else can't He do? If, in line with the Word as written down in the Bible, that the earth will yield its increase, and living things will produce after their kind, and nothing has been able to slow it down or stop it, what else is there that God cannot do?
The Conclusion:
This is why the verse above is a conclusion from the mouth of God Himself. He is in effect saying to us all: "Go, check and verify all I have said in the past". There is nothing I have said in the past that has failed to come to pass. If the past is like that, you can also be sure that the future is safe, if I have spoken about it. God is saying that His Word represents Him. How can you trust the word of a king who is used to lying? Even his position will not save him from disgrace if his subjects cannot trust him to speak the truth. God stakes his name and reputation on His Word, sure that He has the power to carry out whatever He says. This is why men of old trusted God, even when the physical reality around them didn't make sense at the time. It is impossible for God to lie, because he is not hindered by the human nature as we all are. What is critical is to hear and receive a clear word from God, and you can bet heaven and earth will not pass away until that word is fulfilled. That is trust. That is power. That is confidence. What else can replace these? God's time of favour is here.
