For Me 4!

For Me 4!

Psalms 139:13-14 AMP
[13] For You formed my innermost parts; You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb. [14] I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.

This is one of the most personal psalms by the man David. From start to finish, it is as if David takes a chair and sits with God to go over his life. He examines his life from even before birth, to all of life's experiences, even in including the unseen, unknown and uncertain. David seems to be alone with God all through the times indicated in this psalm, and the only time he seems to bring in a third party was when he asked God to deal with the wicked, whom he also hated. The first lesson for me here is that I must focus solely on the God who has made, formed and placed me where I am now. I cannot afford to be concerned and distracted by the views, opinions, distractions or conclusions of men like myself. When God is at work, or when He has spoken, it really does not matter what anyone else has to say. I must seek God for who He is, and not allow men keep me fixated on the earthly, temporal and ephemeral. God wants me to experience something bigger, better and greater than anything the world can offer.

David was clear about his origin, content, motivation, inspiration and destination. He knew where he was from, whose he was, who owned and directed his life, and what his life inside of God would look like. Science continues to make new discoveries about the human body and how it works, and there are new ways of treatments that are found out every day. The second lesson for me is that I believe that even for the next 1,000 years, if the Lord tarries, the world will continue to make new discoveries. The reason is simple: as the verses above make clear, there was nobody there when God was forming my innermost parts,  when he was knitting me together in my mother's womb. No one has the template for my life, looks or constitution. No one can replicate the model, no matter how intelligent. The fact that no 2 human beings have the same fingerprints is a testament to the amazing power, wisdom and sovereignity of God in the affairs of men. Have you met this God?

The uniqueness of me makes me unstoppable and special, because I am the only version of myself in the world. No wonder David could praise God the ways and times he did, as he knew what he had been given. The only person to go to when things are not going well is the One who made me when no one else was there. The only One who has my earthly and eternal interests at heart is the One who has invested so much of Himself in me. The only One who moves mountains and boundaries, simply because I am his child, is the only One who is qualified to place demands on my person, time and resources. Like David, have I considered who this God is, and am I able to praise and worship Him for who He is? Have I taken time to look at my life, and see the amazing miracles, plans and possibilities that are available in and through Christ who is my Lord and Saviour? I note that David was completely surrendered to this God. If I will access the same resources, I must be under the same influence. I cannot be my own master, and still place a demand on God the true Master. Would you truly submit? God's time of favour is here.
