Proverbs 19:21 AMP
[21] Many plans are in a man’s mind, But it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand (be carried out). [Job 23:13; Ps 33:10, 11; Is 14:26, 27; 46:10; Acts 5:39; Heb 6:17]
When you consider the origin of man, you know it is in man's nature to plan. Man was made in the image of God, and in his likeness which means that man is actually like God in some aspects. One of such aspects is in man's creative ability to think up concepts and ideas, and bring them to light. The amazing inventions and technological devices that have helped shape the 21st century are loud testaments to the creative power of man, who is made in the image of the creative God. Take a good look at the design of the earth as it is, with the multiple galaxies, stars and seas that make up just a tiny fraction of the entire universe. How can anyone consider all these, and then think that there is no God, or that the world itself just created itself, or is able to sustain itself? How does anyone consider the dimensions of this universe and think that there is not deep wisdom, power and craft behind how it keeps on working?
Man, made in the image and likeness of God, is able to plan. In fact, it is impossible for a man not to be able to make plans. Even for those who do not submit their lives to Jesus, they are able to make evil plans, and put in the efforts required to actualize their evil plans. The story of the Tower of Babel is a great example of the power given to man. Men came together to do something that had never been done before, and even God admitted that if as one, these people had come together to achieve anything, nothing would be impossible for them. God had to confuse their language in order to get the work to stop. That just tells me that I would save myself a whole world of trouble if I just started off by consulting the One who made me. No man has been given the power of self-sustenance. As long as I did not make myself, I have to answer to the One who did make me.
The secret to both great plans and a great relationship with God is TIME. I have to spend quality time with my Creator to understand what He wants me to do, when and how He wants me to do it. The world will teach us that it is good to make haste, or that delay is dangerous. For the man who knows God, there is really no value to be had in hurrying ahead of God. Make haste to fulfil God's purpose for your life, but do so under His guidance and direction. The man who goes with God never misses the way. The man who waits on God gets all he needs for life and Godliness. The purpose of God for a man's life is the reason why he is formed and planted. It is the motivation to keep going even when the road is rough. Do not let the power of the people keep you from the focus on God and His plans for you. Remember: Whoever was not there at your creation must not be able to control your life and destiny. Only God can and should do so. God's time of favour is here.
