Eternal King!

Eternal King!

Luke 1:31-33 KJV
[31] And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. [32] He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: [33] and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

The greatest gift of God came in human form. This must have been the reason why it was very easy to miss. Heaven rejoiced at His birth and tried to spread the good news to as many as would receive it, but there were many others who did not like the news, and they took steps that led to the death of innocent children. How could such good news lead to such bad outcomes? As it was in the days when Jesus was born, so is it today. Men are still debating the value, truth and impact of the gift that was given. Men are still looking for that flash across the sky, the mighty rumblings and trumpet blasts that will herald the birth of the king that will come forcefully lay down His kingdom. Unfortunately, men have, and continue to miss it, because that kingdom has since been established, and it is left to all of us to decide how we will respond to that kingdom.

The name of the king was laid out before He was born: Jesus means 'Yahweh saves' or 'The Lord is Salvation'. That makes it clear what His purpose and mission are. He has been made manifest to save. Of course, if He is to save, it means that there are captives to be delivered from bondage. The One to save must also be stronger, wiser and bigger than the one who has kept people in bondage; if not, salvation would be difficult. The name is the secret to all that follows: He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David. Of course, the source always defines the power and impact. If someone is God, He has the power to go with that identity. If He says He can and will  save, there is no other evidence to prove the contrary. If God could establish an earthly dynasty for David, imagine what He can do with an eternal dynasty.

Recall the promise of God in Jeremiah 33:17 KJV: For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel. That is a promise by a God who has been proven over and over again to be faithful to His promises. That kingdom that was promised to David was fulfilled in both the physical and the spiritual sense. Jesus is also called the Son of David, and He sits on the throne of David as the crowning reality of all the promises that God had made. What is that thing that you consider impossible, or you have been trusting God for? With this God, time does not run the way we consider it; He is not limited by time, circumstances or laws. He is Eternal, but He also wants me to trust Him for the earthly phase of impact. I can only do this in conjunction with the King who is Eternal. How would I make eternal impact if I do not have the Eternal King as my Lord and Saviour? He has been revealed; the choice of response is all mine. Eternity hangs on my decision. God's time of favour is here.
