Now the mind of the flesh is death [both now and forever--because it pursues sin]; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace [the spiritual well-being that comes from walking with God--both now and forever]; the mind of the flesh [with its sinful pursuits] is actively hostile to God. It does not submit itself to God’s law, since it cannot, and those who are in the flesh [living a life that caters to sinful appetites and impulses] cannot please God.
ROMANS 8:6-8 AMP
1. It does not matter what you tell yourself; your life's purpose is defined by your life's pursuits and priorities.
2. Who you walk with will rub off on you. As you walk with God, you reflect his nature and life. Same with the devil. The Word and the world have sayings along this line- 'Bad company corrupts good morals ' and 'Show me your friends, and I will tell you who you are'.
3. Faith and sin work at cross purposes, when it comes to pleasing God. Without faith, you cannot please God, and with sin, you definitely cannot please God. So, a choice must be made. Both choices have eternal consequences.
4. Both God and the devil are masters; and all of us are subject to one or the other. Forget negotiation - you either flow with the instructions of the master you choose or you are automatically subject to the control of the other. You don't pick and choose which instructions to obey; you either are all in or all out.
Where do you stand? What are your priorities? Whose side are you on? Be sure, as your eternal destination is tied to the truth in your response. His time of favour is here.
