But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.” ACTS 1:8 AMP
God calls us to first walk with him before he commissions us to work for him. He takes relationship and communion very seriously, and this is the focus of his messages. Mary and Martha too will testify to this, when Christ viewed listening to him as more important that even legal household chores. That has got to be our attitude also.
Check out today's extract: First, Christ says you shall receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes on you. That is ownership and possession being determined by God himself. He needs to first stamp his ownership on you, before you can qualify for whatever assignment he determines. You find people who have been self - commissioned, who are busy 'at work' for God, yet without the empowerment and direction the Holy Spirit alone can give. Don't ever go out without this assurance. Pride will emphasize your gifts and talents; the arm of flesh will teach you self-sufficiency; God says without him, you can do nothing.
After empowerment comes commissioning. It has to be in that order. God never uses a man whose allegiances have not been tested, and whose ownership has not been determined. God determines the What, the Where, and the How of the assignment; we only need to fill in the space of the Who when God calls.
