Then Abram believed in (affirmed, trusted in, relied on, remained steadfast to) the Lord ; and He counted (credited) it to him as righteousness (doing right in regard to God and man). GENESIS 15:6 AMP
There are things you hear and you laugh silently, because they are simply incredulous. Nothing around you assures you that what you have heard will ever come true. You have weighed all available options, and you are sure that nothing WL work. People around you seems to be moving on and forward, but you seem stuck on one spot, uncertain of the future and unsure about the next step.
We can read about Abram now and claim his promises, but he had no precedence before him to encourage him. You tell a man above 75 years that he will have a son, and he would probably smile in the outside whilst crying on the inside. The reality of his situation will remind him that nobody has ever had that kind of experience.
The one thing that makes me smile is God's testimony about Abram. God says Abram believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. If that is God's testimony, who am I to argue? If God accepted Abram as he was, with all his baggage, then I can only ask God to show me the same favour and accept me. One day of God's favour on Abram, and we are still claiming his promises till today. That is God: faithful and consistent to the end. His time of favour is here.
