This Jesus

He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Isaiah 53:3 NIV

As I read today's extract, so many questions come to mind? Why did the man spoken about here come? Who did he come for? What was his mission? Considering this account of what he suffered, When will the mission be fully achieved?

The man here is despised and rejected by man. He actually came because of man. God's original plan for us had been disrupted by sin, and a remediation plan had to be put in place to restore man back to his original position. However, the One sent was rejected. Even his own family took him for granted, after all,  they knew his origin and history. Too many times, the familiar and the usual prevents us from seeing as God intends. We think we know him well, only to discover that we have not even scratched the surface in our walk with him.

God's treasures are hidden in the strangest of places. He puts his Spirit, nature, attributes and power in a clay jar, simply because he can do it, and so we can know it is not about us. A son was sacrificed, a life was given freely and taken, so we could walk free. The One who paid the price did so at a time when the recipients of the prize didn't even appreciate or acknowledge him. We didn't care; we didn't even know better.

He has come, he died and rose again, and lives forever, offering the same benefits to all who will come to him. The offer is to EVERY MAN, irrespective of race, creed,  colour or language. His mission is to save lives, and to offer them true life.

The price has been paid, and the prize is eternal redemption for all who will come to him as they are and receive the life on offer. Though we hid our faces from him at a time, a time is coming when all will see his face. Though he was despised and held in low esteem at a time, soon, a time is coming when every knee will bow to him. Can you do it freely now, when you still have the time? His mission has an expiry date. Decide now, for His time of favour is here.
