Get it Right!
Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap. Galatians 6:7 AMPC
This is the long version of the popular verse that tells man not to fool himself into thinking he can be smarter than the One who created him and gave him breath. Life's discoveries are amazing: supersonic jets, telephone, instant messaging, health breakthroughs, scientific discoveries are just a few of the amazing things in this century alone. You could be tempted to ask yourself that with all of these things, who needs God? Actually, the real question to ask is: 'In the face of all of these things, how do I hold on to God?'.
Long before man discovered these great things, God has been calling man to himself. God keeps reminding man that things are to be used to improve quality of life, not to replace Him. We have found new ways of pushing God to the background; in some places, it is a taboo to bring God into the workplace or school. Governments too take the same view, holding out that there is no place for good in civil society. However, recent events have shown that when God is not present, trouble isn't so far away. When I tell God I do not need Him, how can I turn around and hold him responsible for the troubles that overwhelm me?
His law still stands: I reap what I sow. No amount of scientific breakthrough can change that fact. You can work on the fruit or the stem, but you do not have control over the substance of the roots. In the same way, if I will get God to change my situation, I need to ask Him to address my roots. I have to give Him total control, so He can do what He as creator can do. As long as God remains God, He will not go against the exercise of my free will.
