Focus!

Joshua 1:8 KJV

[8] This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

There is a model for success that the world cannot understand, but has been proven to be real time and again. The model is based on focus; attention.to the things that really matter. It has to be noted that this is not just about seeing with the physical eyes, but seeing the way God wants me to. The world is all about images, symbols, as well as physical and material things; God's idea of success is about who you know. This is why the world will struggle to live up to the expectations of God if it does not know or submit to this God. How can a man lay claim to resources he is not entitled to, or demand the rights of citizenship from a country of which he is not a citizen or resident? If I will lay hold of the benefits and blessings that God promises, I must be in the right place, doing the right thing and seeking the right thing, so I can access the right thing. 

The focus is critical; the verse above says that there is a source that defines what I get, and it has to be God. His Word is the guide, guard and compass for life. Long before the world and all its problems came to be, the Word has been in place, and it is by Him that all we see today were made. Nothing exists outside of His will and word, and once He has said it, be sure it will come to pass.That is also why it is called the book of the law. God cannot lay down the standard, and then fail to uphold or enforce the standard. He has made clear what His will is, and as many as would take him at His Word will enjoy what is on offer. The verse makes it clear that the focus has to be consistent; it is not a weekly, monthly or annual affair only, but a daily lifestyle. It is not something you switch off and on when it is convenient; it has to be a daily focus. I am to meditate on it day and night, so I can get as much information as I need for life and Godliness. 

It is by reading and meditating that I get the information I need about God's will and purpose for my life. I then note that after reading and meditating, there is the next step of observing to do. What is the point of seeking to know God's will if you will not align your life with Him? Don't just enjoy the words; allow the Word work in you to lead you to the place where God's grace can sustain you. God will not take you to a place where His Word will be rendered ineffective and ineffectual. His Word works wonders if He is allowed to work as He desires. Of course, if you let Him work in and through you, you have sealed success on His terms. Let the world define success however it wants; the man who goes with God will never lack, or miss his way. The ultimate success is God's backing down here on earth, and eternal life with Him. Do not miss any. God's time of favour is here.
