John 3:17 KJV
[17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved
Two days ago, we considered the impact of sin and what it has caused in the life of man. It is clear that due to the fall of man into sin in the Garden of Eden, it has been one calamity after another. Even when man claims not to know about the power of the sinful nature, sin continues to rule and ruin the lives of all who are under its control. As sin is also a matter of genes, all who trace their origins to the first man all inherit the nature of sin. There is no exception, except the One who was brought into the world without the operation of natural human conception. The devil, as the chief proponent and promoter of sin, has no good solutions to offer man. He has also sinned by rebelling against God's authority, and he is the only one whose eternal judgment has already been sealed. This is why he is seeking as many people as possible to go with him into eternal domination.
Christ has been strategically and eternally positioned, by virtue of His birth, death and resurrection, to offer deliverance from the power of sin, and new birth into a hope that never dies. His death on the cross, even though he knew no sin, was God's eternal solution to an eternal problem. As we read in the devotion 2 days ago, ALL sinned. The solution had to cover ALL who had sinned for it to be fair. As God is not an unjust God, or one who shows partiality, the death of Jesus on the cross was done for ALL men. What makes this even more poignant is the fact that it solved past, present and future sins. It did not matter in which generation or dispensation the sin was committed; even children yet to be born now already have the fountain of blood at their disposal. God did not send His son just to point out sin, but to save the world from sin.
No other person or solution is available to save from sin. No other sacrifice of blood is able to save from the power and effect of sin. There is no other name under heaven, given among men, by which man can be saved. We have been given new birth into a new life, one with hope for an eternity with God signed, sealed and delivered by blood. There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ, whose past life of sin has been dealt with. It is the position that God wants ALL of us to be in. This is why such a huge price was paid. It is fair for God to make the offer available to ALL so that His judgement can be fair to ALL. Please do not ignore the gift that has been given freely to ALL men. No excuse will be valid if one rejects this gift to the end. There is an eternity at stake, and I get to choose where to spend it: with God, or away from God. The choice of response is mine to sort out. God's time of favour is here.
