Walk Right!

Walk Right!

1 John 1:7 GNBUK
[7] But if we live in the light — just as he is in the light — then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from every sin.

John writes as an eyewitness of the amazing life that Jesus lived out while he was on earth, and also promised to all who will surrender their lives to Him. There is power in the testimony of an eyewitness; courts of law have consistently relied on the testimony of the person who heard, saw, tasted or felt whatever is the subject of the testimony being given. If this is the reality in the physical, imagine the power and effect of it in the spiritual. Do not just rely on that which anyone tells you; make every effort to get your own personal experience. In the days of trials and tough times, it is what you have known or personally experienced that will sustain you through those tough times. Hearsay evidence is NOT admissible in court; I cannot go to hell or heaven on behalf of another person. We will all have to sort out our eternal destination by our current earthly pursuits and priorities. What are those things that are important to me now?

Part of the personal experience of John was his walk with Jesus as the Light. You cannot experience light without personal interaction with the Light. I cannot claim to be IN the light or to know the light if my daily actions align with darkness. My walk must match my talk. My outer manifestation is the reflection of my inner contents. I can make claims or pretend to be anything, just to let people think well of me, but if it lasts long enough, people will know that I am a pretender. I have the right example to follow; I have the information I need to make the right decision. I will not have an excuse rejecting the light and choosing to remain in darkness. It has to be emphasised that darkness is the natural affiliation for the natural man. This is why the natural man has to die, so that its attractions and attachments can also die along with it. The natural man cannot be bent to the will of the Holy Spirit, so it has to give way if the Holy Spirit is to His work in the life of a man.

When the natural man has given way to the spiritual man, there is a connection with the Spirit of God. There is access to power, as well as fellowship with God and fellow men whose lives have been taken over by God. True fellowship is only possible when we are all singing from the same hymnsheet. It does not mean we must think or act the same way, but the power that binds us together is deeper and greater and stronger that whatever are the human differences between us. The blood of Jesus was shed on the cross for all mankind, and anyone who comes in contact with the blood is brought into fellowship with the One who died. If I am forgiven my past, and given a new life, why would I want to go back to the past? Why would I focus so much on the past that I cannot appreciate what is available in Jesus today? I am cleansed and forgiven; the past is dealt with permanently, and new life is sealed and secured, with eternal life with God the end of all things. Who or what else can secure these for me? Are you IN the light? God's time of favour is here
