Daniel 12:3 AMP
[3] Those who are [spiritually] wise will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead many to righteousness, [will shine] like the stars forever and ever..
Matthew 13:43 AMP
[43] Then the righteous [those who seek the will of God] will shine forth [radiating the new life]like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears [to hear],let him hear and heed My words.
Two verses of the bible, with one in the old testament and the other in the new testament. Both speak of the same matter, with no difference in the messaging and the importance and urgency of the matter being addressed. First, the return of Jesus to take His own with Him as being addressed all over the Bible. Daniel belonged to the old prophets long before Jesus was born, but the visions he saw clearly showed that God was not lying when He said that an accounting will be demanded from all who have been made by God and placed on earth to work for Him. That is another testament to the Truth that is Jesus; across generations and dispensations, the message has remained the same: "I am coming back'. When Jesus came to the earth in human form, the message was still the same: "God's kingdom is here'. What other proof do I need to be sure that Jesus means business?
How do I align with Jesus' expectations? The first matter mentioned above is 'wisdom'. Now, there is an earthly version and a heavenly version. The one from God must be the pursuit, and is founded on a healthy and reverential fear of God. You can never be said to be truly wise if you have no fear of God. It is wisdom to know and respect my boundaries, and to do the things that please God at all times. Men are fickle; they do not hold on to any position for long. As long as interests or desires change, be sure that the priorities would also change. Would you want to stake your eternity on such temporal and fickle measures? Being truly wise means I am connected to Jesus, who is the Wosdom and the Power of God. Of course, I cannot have God and still live a care-free life. I will be noticed, because I carry in me the light and the life of God. That light and life must touch other people.
That is the other part of the verses above. When I carry light, it cannot be ignored. The world we live in is full of darkness, and the difference-makers will be those who have the Light of God in them. Men will see and testify to the glory of God in me. When I know the value of who I am, what I am, what I have, and where I am headed, I will strive to draw as many people as possible to enjoy what I have. I note that my job as the light is to show men the way to repentance and righteousness; the Light, who is Jesus, does the change in a man's heart. Jesus does make the end worth it. Those who obey His command will shine like the stars forever. Reflect on this for a moment: no matter how well you live down here, it is on borrowed time. A day comes when it will all end down here, and we all must stand before the Lord to give an account for our lives. What value am I adding to His kingdom? God's time of favour is here.
