Safe!

Safe!

Proverbs 18:10 AMP
[10] The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous runs to it and is safe and set on high [far above evil].

The book of proverbs has several one-line messages, loaded with nuggets of wisdom for as many people as would listen. As it has been said several times over the past few weeks, God does not force Himself on anyone and He will not go against the exercise of my freewill. Following God is a personal choice; obeying Him is a personal decision; fully surrendering to Him is the ideal thing to do, but only if you are willing to do so, after having weighed the options available to you. That is the message of the verse above. Reflect on the life and times of the man who is credited with most of these proverbs and wise sayings: Solomon. He was a man blessed by God with riches not known by anyone before him. He was also blessed by God with wisdom beyond his natural years, but we also see how his life turned out.

A good start does not always guarantee a good end. The fact that God has helped you to a good place does not mean that you now have the ability, capacity and capability to make it on your own. This is not one of those situations where both God and you contribute equally to the success of your endeavours. It is all about God or nothing at all. This is not one of those situations too that you can leave God by the side when things get rough, as they are bound to do. You have to go with God all the way. In fact, the reality of the presence of God only makes the reality of the devil's schemes even more pronounced. The devil will not fight his own, as these are already in his camp, but for all who seek to follow God, be ready for the opposition that your position will naturally attract. You cannot leave the camp of the devil and expect him to just fold.

For all who know and follow God, He provides a path to safety, security and soundness. The name of the Lord is presented as a strong tower here, which, among many things, signify a place of strength, vision, advantage, storage and good preparation. It is a fortified place for all who are under its watch, as men are able to stand guard there and be prepared for any danger. If God is that strong tower, what can come near me without His permission? If God is that strong tower, what 'accident' can come to anyone He is protecting? That is why the counsel in the verse above is fundamental: run into Him. There are dangers all around, and a leisurely walk may cost you. If you know what He offers, do not delay. Run into Him today, and be safe. You are in Him, and you are placed in Him, far above principalities and powers. Where else would you rather be? God's time of favour is here.
