Say Right!

A soft and gentle and thoughtful answer turns away wrath, But harsh and painful and careless words stir up anger. PROVERBS 15:1 AMP

Whatever comes out of me is a function of the investments I have made inside of me. It will never be about external pressure, peer pressure, parental background, lack of parental care and related matters. These may have a bearing on how I start, but it sure shouldn't define or limit me. Also, how I say what has to be said is as important as what I have to say. I could lose the chance to make an impact or lead a change, simply because I didn't say what needed to be said in the proper way.

I note that both responses are answers, but both lead to two opposite outcomes. For every question, issue or problem you are faced with, there are always two opposing responses. Life will not allow you to sit on the fence, as indecision is itself a decision not to do, say or be anything. If I give a soft and thoughtful response, the results are as stated, and if my response is the opposite, the results will also be as stated. Giving a soft answer doesn't make you weak or soft; it is a product of a life that seeks to speak of God's grace.

BUT, what if my soft response doesn't produce the results stated here? I sense here that the focus is on my own action, not the other party's reaction. I don't have much power over how my actions are defined, but I have the power to decide to act, speak and live right, as God commands. When I obey, I open the door for God to work wonders in ways I cannot imagine. When I obey, the results will always go beyond the NOW, and will impact the future. The power is in my life, in my mouth, in my heart. Is God in control there? God's time of favour is here.
