All-round Peace!

All-round Peace!

saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
Luke 19:38 KJV

The Context and Contention:
This season of Easter is a reminder of all that the birth, death and life of Jesus offer us. Easter is the celebration of life, eternal life. The One who died and rose again is Jesus, and by His life, has secured life for all who confess Him as Lord and Saviour. It would appear that two quick things are apparent from the verse today; the first thing is that it appeared that those who said these words probably understood the full scope of what God had done. They probably knew and accepted that Jesus is that King that is to come; the One to promote peace, both on earth and in heaven. Can I also say and mean these words?

The second thing is not very obvious from the verse above. The same crowd which shouted the words of today's extract were shouting the opposite a few days later: 'crucify Him'.  You would wonder what made people who recognised the King of kings suddenly denounce him and hand him over to death. This is why Easter has become possible. At the time, the people did not know the earthly and eternal impact of what they were doing, but today, we are were we are and who we are because of the events described above.

The Charge and Conclusion:
In light of the above, what decisions do I have to make right now? The people of today's extract recognised who Jesus was, as well as the spiritual implications of the events of that time. The call is still the same today: all of us must make a decision on what to do with Jesus. You cannot sit on the fence, as there is no fence on this matter. The decision has to be now, because nobody is promised tomorrow. He who was sent by God has brought peace from heaven to earth. If I am yet to have God's kind of peace, I must check again and confirm who is the power and presence behind my person.

Heaven has no issue with who is in control of the entire universe. It is the people of the earth who have to sort out their own allegiance and identity. Heaven knows the value of the gift that was given at Easter; do I know? Have I taken advantage of the gift? Remember, eternity is too long a time not to be sure of where it is to be spent. Easter must not be wasted over my own life. God's time of favour is here.
