Call!

Call!

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13 KJV

The Context and Charge:
Paul writes to the Roman church, speaking of different issues of importance to the church at the time. I learn that Truth is Truth, but I must ask God for grace to learn when it is best to speak it. Paul knew that the church in Rome was struggling with a lot of vested interests, but he knew what was most important at the time was not so much what to get out but who to allow in. My life is a function and reflection of the One who pulls its strings. And whether I acknowledge it or not, there is always someone pulling the strings. The question then remains: 'Who is pulling the strings of my heart and dictating its pursuits and priorities'?

This question is quite important and relevant to the verse under consideration today. Salvation is God's greatest gift to man; power, position, possessions and privilege are all relevant only up to a point, for a reason or for a season. You do not go to heaven or hell with anything you have acquired on earth; you only go into eternity with whoever possessed you and you called upon for help while on earth. If that person who possesses you now is God, you are safe. If it is not the True God, the father of our Lord Jesus, then trouble is ahead. I need to be sure; eternity is too long a time not to be sure of where you will spend it.

The Contention and Conclusion:
The key to access all of Christ is in calling out or asking for help. It sounds funny, but that is it. CALL OUT. You do not call out in your mind by making assumptions that the person will know what you are saying; CALL OUT.  You do not wait until the weather is convenient; CALL OUT. Calling out is a sign that you know you  need help, and the one you are calling out to is the only one who can help. It is one thing to know who can help; it is quite another to reach out to that person the right way. It is an open cheque; an open invitation to anyone and everyone. He does not ask any question about your past, and he does not care how filthy you are; He simply seeks to wash you clean and give you a new, clean start.

Would you allow Him do what He alone can do? Would you call out to Him today? The One who invites me to call on him says He will save me. When I check his antecedents, I see that He can do what He has promised. It is not a measure of probability, but a function of certainty. He is able to save, but this is for those who call out to Him in faith, who are sure and certain that, just as He has said, He will save, not just from sin and its consequences, but also offer eternal life full and free. I wonder: what could be better than this? What else can I get that can be better than what I have in Christ? The name od the Lord is a strong tower, and all who run into Him are safe. That is a promise with eternal ramifications. Would you call on this Jesus? God's time of favour is here.
