Context and Charge:

The verses before today's extract address an important part of our lives as Christians. We are in very unique circumstances, in the sense that we have access to all that God intends for all who fear and follow Him. You read about the new law, new way of life and a new eternal order that Christ had come to establish; you learn of the law of Christ that has sealed eternal life for me, and deliverance from the law of sin and death. You read of God's investment in humans, as well as the power and impact his Holy Spirit has on us. All the above gives me an insight into God's amazing nature, power and wisdom. He is the God with foreknowledge of all that concerns me, and long before I would even surrender my life to Him, He already gave up His life for me out of love. 

His love was not subject to me loving Him in return, as He would still have died if I were the only sinner on earth. He died for me, and still desires that I surrender my life to Him. He is my greatest supporter, as the bible says I am engraved in the hollow of his palm. I cannot get lost, because I am surrounded by the certainty of His grace. I cannot be confused, because His wisdom is my portion. Let men say whatever it is they want to say; let the whole earth be in trouble; let the wind blow, the storms rage or the earth quake; as long as God is on my side, I know it will end well for me. That is why today's extract can start by stating quite clearly, in the form of a question whose answer is obvious, that if God is already on my side, it does not matter what the quantity or quality of opposition against me is.

Conviction and Conclusion:

If God is on my side, let the whole world gang up against me, I have a standing assurance that I will overcome. As long as God is on my side, it is certain that nobody can last in opposition against God. Anyone who comes against God will not succeed, no matter how strong, influential or connected s/he may be. This is a God who existed before time, as we know it now, began, and who will continue to exist long after time as we know it now, ceases to exist. He has not lost a war yet, as He is called the Man of War. Yes, things we call 'bad' may happen to us in the course of the journey called life, but there is a standing guarantee that all things will work together for the good of all that love God. It is very important that I sort out my identity and  location. My location defines my allocation. God's time of favour is here.
