The Right Response 8

EPH 5:1-2 NIV

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

We were created to be in the image of him who created us. We were made to think, talk, walk, work and love like him. We were his workmanship, the outward proof of his inner wisdom, power and might, and we were created to show off his glory and grace. However, sin came and corrupted that nature. Now, we seek to imitate the attributes of the new master that sin gives- the devil. We now live like people with no hope, no love and no God. Should things be this bad? I don't think so.

For as many that know that they are children of God, there's only one example worth emulating, and that has been established by Christ himself. He has laid down the standard and we who claim sonship must live as the Son lives. His was a life of love in its purest form. Even when we didn't deserve it, he showed us all the same. Even though we were not interested in his offers at that time, his arms remained stretched out, and are still stretched out today, asking all to come and enjoy the benefits of his love. His was a life of love and sacrifice; no wonder God was pleased with him. We cannot afford to be less or do less. If we are God's children, then the standard has been set- live as children of love and children of God. His time of favour is here.
