My Part, God's Part

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 6:17-18; 7:1 KJV

I am called to be in the world, yet not be a part of the world. My area of influence is the world, yet I am not to be influenced by it. It is a conscious decision on my part, and would entail some painful excisions: I may have to change location and companions, I may have to deny myself what is mine by right, so that I occupy my place as a son.

A true son is one that looks like his father. Earthly children are easily identified by their facial expressions or marks who their parents are. How much more those who claim God as their father. Can the world look at me and determine my identity and ownership? Or, have I found a balance between both camps, seeking to please both extremes? God cannot deal with such a person, as he is holy. He does not condone sin, and though his love is eternal, he is also a God of judgment.

Sonship is the path to eternity. You need to belong to him to be able to take his name, enjoy the benefits of the name and also live with him forever. His time of favour is here.
