And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature together with its passions and appetites. GALATIANS 5:24 AMP
Who do you belong to? It is a fundamental question, with its foundation steeped in eternity. Your ownership structure determines a lot about what you do and where you end up.
If I know I belong to Christ, there is no room for compromise. I can't sit on the fence or waver between two different opinions. I cannot choose a middle ground because I do not want to offend anyone; whatever choice you make, you become an enemy to the other side. Friendship with the world is enmity with God and vice versa. There is no part-ownership; you are either totally on God's side or totally on the world's side.
So, if I belong to God, what kind of person do I become? Both the Godly and sinful natures come with their passions and desires and both natures must be nurtured to full maturity. As you feed one, the other becomes weaker and subdued. The truth is the walk is a daily one. God expects the sinful nature to be crucified, but because we are human, we must keep depending on God on a daily basis for the sinful nature to remain crucified. As long as i am in this flesh, i can never outgrow that dependence on God. As long as I am human, both natures will continue to be at work, seeking to take control. My ownership structure therefore would determine my pursuits and priorities.
Lord, I depend totally on you. The race ahead is long, windy and uncertain, but I know you are the One who knows the way. Hold my hand, lead me through life and land me safe on the right side of eternity. His time of favour is here.
