Meet God 2

The person who has My commands and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I [too] will love him and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him. [I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him. John 14:21 AMPC

God really loves to have and build a relationship with us. Everything he does or says is a revelation of who he is, what he wants for us and what he demands from us. He's made that very clear all through his Word, and until I read, meditate and apply what I have heard, I will not enjoy the full benefits of all that God intends for me.

Note that it is the person who BOTH has and keeps God's commandments who is truly safe. We focus on the first without keeping the second. We spend so much time learning the promises, without paying attention to the conditions. We emphasise a head knowledge about God, without a personal life encounter with the Word. We have men who can quote entire chapters, like the Shepherd's psalm 23, but know nothing about the psalm's Shepherd himself. Love for God is proven by both having and keeping. Do I create time to read, study and apply the Word?

Note also that God's Words are defined as 'commands', not advice. Yes, I do have a choice, but when I consider the end of all things, I realise that if I am to live right, be used right and end well, I do not really have a choice but to obey. God will not force himself on me, but one day soon, I MUST answer to him for what I did with his Word and how I lived my life. Then, my power of choice would have been completely taken away. While I am on this side of eternity, I choose to willingly obey.

If I want to know who God is, the only way is by His Word. God's love is revealed on the pages of his Word, and his desire to reveal himself will only be matched by my search for him. How would God be known to me if I do not search for him? How would I know if I found him, if I never even knew what I was looking for? Check out the men of old, men like Moses who God spoke with face to face. When he came down from the mountain, his face alone gave proof that he had met with God. He didn't need to speak. Others like Ezekiel, Daniel and Jonah had encounters with God that changed their lives and till today, we learn from their experiences. That is what God wants to do: to be real in my life. Would I let him? Would I surrender all to him and allow him have his way in me? His time of favour is here.
