God's Timing!
For there is [only] one God, and [only] one Mediator between God and mankind, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom [a substitutionary sacrifice to atone] for all, the testimony given at the right and proper time. 1 TIMOTHY 2:5-6 AMP
Just in case I had forgotten its importance, or I had conveniently ignored the critical implications of this truth, I am reminded by Paul that there is only one God. If it is true that there is only one God, why then is it so hard for all the religions to agree on the identity and power of that same God? Why is it so hard to agree on how to approach or worship this one God?
The next phrase provides a response: there is also only one mediator between God and man. This mediator pleads our case before the Father, standing on our behalf. This is the sticky point with man: the testimony about his helplessness and his need for help from someone bigger, better and stronger than he could ever be. This is where it is hard for man to ever qualify for grace, as it is not something you can earn. This is where the religions of the world can no longer speak, and all that is left is a personal encounter with the one called Life himself.
The reason why Christ can stand where He is, and we can stand where we are is simply by grace and by blood. Blood is a bridge, a channel of reconciliation and true life for all who trust in the finished work of Christ on the cross. We deserved to die; someone needed to die for the remission of sins. Of course, anyone polluted by sin could not qualify, and so only the sinless One could offer the perfect sacrifice. He has done so; all I need to do is simply walk in and seal eternal life.
God is never late. At the appointed time, when the fullness of the plans has been completed, all that God has said will come to pass. When the time was right, God did right by allowing His Son pay the price for us to be called Righteous. Just like the testimony of Christ for us, may our lives also lead to offerings of praise and thanksgiving to God. His time of favour is here.
