Walk Right 3

Walk Right 3

Do not let yourself be overcome by evil, but overcome (master) evil with good. Romans 12:21 AMPC

There is a war going on all around me, and it is a war that I am a participant in, whether I want to or not. There is a war between good and evil everywhere you turn, and the outcome of each cycle is largely dependent on my action and reaction, not necessarily any other factor or circumstance. Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, we have embraced evil as a natural way of life. Sin has become the order of the natural man, and only a surrender of the will of the natural man to the power and influence of the supernatural Man will sin lose its power and hold over us.

Unfortunately, no matter what I do, evil may win. That's the way of the world right now, and there is the place for the expression of my free will, where I either cooperate with or acquiesce to the evil around me or I say No and allow God's kind of good to shine through. That power of choice is the thread that runs through today's extract. No matter what happens around me, I have the power to determine what wins: good or evil. No matter the physical realities around me, I have the power to decide how they affect me and the fruits my life produces as a result.

Good is also fighting. Good is represented by all that God is, and his desire is that his will covers the entire earth. The mere fact that evil seems to be more visible and easy does not mean that it is more powerful; it only means that I need to let God shine in and through me to establish his good around me. It is a constant war, a war that will not cease as long as this earth remains. I get to pick a side by my daily life.

When I am tempted to revenge evil done to you, I am being overcome with evil. When I want to level the playing field by doing to others exactly what has been done to me, I am allowing evil thrive. When I live by the principles of this wicked world, I am deciding to allow evil win. When God decides my steps, good always win. When I allow the love of God flow through me, no matter what kind of cards I have been dealt, I  am giving good room to shine out through me. This has to be a daily lifestyle, not an occasional business.

You have got to get in there and stay in, even when it hurts. After all, you know who you have believed, and you know you are pursuing an eternal home. Depending on whose side you are on, there is a victory at the end of this war. You had better be sure you are fighting on the right side. His time of favour is here.
