Introductions!
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become tired or grow weary; There is no searching of His understanding. ISAIAH 40:28 AMP
A brief introduction is required here: in the journey of life, there are a few peole you are required to meet, if your life's journey will make sense and have impact. A few of them are hand-lifters, encouragers and givers. But there is a glue that holds all of them together and give them meaning, and that glue is a Person- the Everlasting God. He's the One being introduced in today's extract and he is one that we all must meet and know personally if our lives will find and fulfil purpose.
He's called the Everlasting God, the Lord. He's God- identity, power, grace, all summed up in that one word. He's also Lord- master, creator, boss, leader and controller. The issue is one of personal experience: do you know Him as one or the other or as both? Do you recognise him as God of all and also Lord of your life? Both are important. Many people know God as God; they respect Him as such, but cannot submit to His Lordship and authority. We pay lip service to knowing this God; we read and hear of his exploits all around us; we even see his acts in the lives of other people, yet we struggle to give Him control of our lives.
He's called the creator of the ends of the earth. Science has tried to explain it all away but the created will never be able to fully understand its creator. He's always at work; giving knowledge of discovery and improvement in daily life; giving men the ability to push the boundaries of medicine, technology, extraction and information in order to make the earth a better place. However, rather than move towards this God, we are running away from Him, pursuing the things the earth gives rather than God Himself. Man runs after the benefits the earth gives, and knows nothing about the wisdom, power, authority and influence behind all he can see.
That's the God being introduced in today's extract. That's the God you and I need to meet. One day with Him is better than all the world can give you. The world and its distractions are attractive, but they are only temporal and finite. God is the eternal One, and He offers eternal life to all who will come to Him. What are you waiting for? His time of favour is here.
