Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. 1 Peter 4:16 KJV
Let it be known here that suffering will come for all who profess to follow Christ. You have gone against popular opinion; you have pledged allegiance against the norms and traditions of the world you live in; how would you imagine that the devil will leave you alone? Your new priorities will be the grounds for the battles you will face and God already makes it clear ahead of time what you should expect.
Suffering isn't such a negative word; it is the summary of all the experiences all those who follow Christ must undergo. When the world is comfortable with little white lies, you stick to the truth. When it is more convenient to cheat and make a quick buck, and you stick to the right channels and actions, you will pay a price for it. The world isn't set up to reward honesty; it is God who rewards. And when the pains of my stand with Truth comes, the bible says I should not be ashamed. This is a tall order for anyone who doesn't know who s/he has been called to follow.
My experiences must glorify God. God takes no pleasure in my suffering and dejection, but He must prepare me for the place and heights He's taking me to. God is glorified when men stand for Him, even when the world mocks. The reason why I should glorify God for my experiences is because God WILL always come true. My life now may not show it, but by God's nature which makes it impossible for Him to lie, Joy always comes at the end of the experience.
So, I look forward to the experiences. I know God will not place on me more than I can bear. I look forward to a life of impact down here and eternity with Him at the end of this present phase. No matter what comes, i hold on to God's everlasting arms, able to hold, comfort and support. His time of favour is here.
