Every man’s way is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs and examines the hearts [of people and their motives]. Proverbs 21:2 AMP
There are 2 absolute statements in today's extract, one speaking from God's perspective and the other from man's perspective. One lays down the fact that it is within man's rights to plan his life. In fact, it is wrong for a man to stumble through life, unsure of what he wants to do and how he wants to do them. It means that it is proper for a man to lay down plans for his present and future, but there is a reality that man must contend with, and it has to do with the other reality, which is God's perspective.
God also has his own plans. He laid down the foundations of the world long before man was made and He has an eternal view of what is really important. He then creates the avenue for man to discover Him, so that man can truly find purpose and fulfilment through the things that God considers important. Now, this is the sticky point: God has provided the avenue, but He will not force man to take it. Man would have to come to God by himself.
So, man thinks that because his plans come together, he must be smart. He does not know or consider that the divine controls the visible. Man makes a few bucks and thinks he has arrived; that it is his wisdom, tact and verve that made them all possible. God would however let us all know that we will have to deal with Him, one way or another. God knows the motives and intents of every heart and He judges accordingly.
I must then be wise: as I plan, I must consider what God wants and says. As I plan, I must seek counsel, instruction and direction from the One who knows tomorrow. If my life will make impact and be the blessing it was created to be, God must be my first priority. He knows men, and knows those He needs to bring my way to get me to the place He needs me to be, so I can fulfil His purpose. God will play His part; what is my response? His time of favour is here.
