Get Dressed!

Get Dressed!

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11 KJV

Today's extract is the end of Paul's letter to the church in Ephesus. This church was central to Paul's ministry, and just before he left for the final journey to Jerusalem, he warned this church about wolves that would come in to deceive people. Interestingly, the same Ephesian church was the recipient of the first letter to the 7 churches in Revelation. God takes as very important how those who claim to know Him live. The race we have been called to run isn't one we can succeed in by ourselves; we need the help of the One who is called the Man of War to help us.

What is expected? For you to put on the whole armour of God, you have got to put off something else. Putting on is a conscious and deliberate action, and not something you are forced to do. You realise you need help, and that you can't do anything by yourself. It is called the whole armour of God because you can't take the parts you like and leave the rest. It is called armour because this race isn't first about my convenience, but about God building character in me. How else will He trust me with great treasures without testing my heart's priorities and pursuits?

It is called the armour of God to differentiate it from any other option the world offers. Do not be deceived: this life is a fight. The devil will give you options, just as God offers you His own too. Satan has been at it long before any of us alive now were born, but God is even stronger. However, God will not force a man against the exercise of his/her freewill, but there are eternal consequences to every decision or step taken. And before the challenges come, God warns. Before the tests start, God puts us on notice. We must sit down and count the cost; be sure of what you are getting into. For all who have come to trust totally in God, they are sure of the support of the eternal God, and are certain of a good end. Where do you stand? His time of favour is here.
