It's Personal!

It's Personal!

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Romans 8:18 KJV

Firstly, it is a personal experience; a personal relationship with a God who delights to have us search for and walk with Him. Paul, writing here understood this, and from all his writings, he made that very clear: you are only as good as how much of God you personally know. How much of God do you seek out on a daily basis? How much of God do you allow to impact what you do and how you do it?

Secondly, the knowledge of God does not preclude any trials or tough times. Nowhere does God promise an easy ride, but before the rough seas come, He already prepares you for what is ahead. These present times had been foretold by God long ago, so nothing about it catches Him by surprise. And because I am his child, I am safe and secure in the knowledge that God knows what He is doing.

Thirdly, all of these present experiences have expiration dates, and they must all give way to something better; something eternal. There is this eternal truth in God's Word that runs through everything He has said: "the glory of the latter house shall surpass the former". No matter what the present looks like, the future is definitely going to be better. No matter how tough or rough the present is, tomorrow holds a hope that nothing on earth can explain or sustain.

Lastly, please note that the fulfilment of this promise is predicated on your inner state. Paul ends by laying down the standard: this glory is going to be revealed in US. Who are the us? Just 2 verses before today's extract, we read those immortal words: "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God." If I will enjoy all that is promised, I must sort out my relationship status with God. I can claim all the words and recite them over and over again on a daily basis, but until I know God and God knows me as His own, I may just be deceiving myself.

The promise has been made; the price has been paid; the prize has been offered full and free and the grace to live and walk right supplied in abundant measure. What are you waiting for? Take hold of it all, and enjoy all that God has on offer. His time of favour is here.
