Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3 KJV
We need to be careful not to ascribe God's mighty works in us to our own abillites or perfection. In the chapter and verses before today's extract, God promises to restore Judah, after punishing it for its sins of rebellion. Like it has always been said, God has no favourites when it comes to sin. He will punish sin, no matter in whom it is found. However, His love also always comes through, and we stand where we are today because His love came through, not our goods works or standing.
High fences and gates are good, but they are of not much use in the day of trouble. Judah found this out the hard way. Before today's extract, Judah had fortresses, but sin had made a big hole and the nation did not know. Enemies came in and looted, and while they cried, God reminded them of their rebellion. But here was God again, promising restoration and safety, the kind He alone can guarantee. Is there anything you need God to help you with? Is sin threatening your peace of mind? Go to God; He is still in the business of changing lives.
Of course, the peace that God gives isn't the type the world can duplicate or tamper with. This peace isn't the absence of trouble, but the undeniable presence of God in the midst of all the pressure. Long before the physical will manifest, the inner unseen part must be settled. In fact, in today's extract, I do not see any mention of physical measures required to bring today's extract to pass. It then means that what God requires of me is mainly a matter for the heart.
The world will notice on the outside what you have already sorted out on the inside. God will play his part by supplying the grace I need; I also need to clear my mind of all distractions and lies from the devil. I must Stay my mind on God; it has to be fixed. It cannot be floating all over, looking for options and alternatives. I ask myself again: who's my focus? Where do I draw strength and direction from? Eternity lies at the end of the answers. His time of favour is here.
