Blessed?

Blessed?

Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. Psalms 119:2 KJV

This is the longest chapter in the Bible, with 176 verses divided in 3to 22 sections of 8 verses each. One thing that runs through each of the 22 sections is reference to the God and His Word, which is referenced in different ways in the whole chapter. It is therefore clear that if a man will prosper and be all that God created him/her to be, the sure way is through a relationship with God and His Word.

This is emphasised in today's extract. God's Word is a testimony about Himself; He sets out His CV for us to see for ourselves and decide what to do with Him. He tells us what His will and purpose is, and makes it clear that when we walk with Him, He can bring to pass all of his plans and purposes for us. Testimony comes from a witness; someone who saw, heard, did, tasted, smelt or felt the thing(s) being testified about. His testimony also tells us what He demands from us and we will do well to learn what He wants and be careful to obey them.

Blessings are mentioned here and we will do well to understand the context of the blessings, otherwise we will shout "I receive" all day and yet get nothing. The key word here is 'keep'. You will only seek to keep safe the things you treasure. If it is valuable, you will take steps to keep it safe. Have you taken time out to learn what God demands and desires? Are you careful to seek to keep His commands, or are you all about effects with no depth?

In keeping the testimonies of God, your life will also testify. Men who come into contact with you will also testify of your allegiance. However, the seat of this public testimony is the hidden place of the heart. You will see from today's extract that what is emphasised is the WHOLE heart, not a part or the greater part of it. It has to be the whole thing, or God cannot confirm your total surrender or allegiance. If He cannot vouch that you will choose Him anytime, would He be quick to commit His testimonies into your hands? But if my whole heart seeks Him, He will be quick to reveal His mind and will to me. I will not see the full picture all at once, but the promise is that as long as my heart is totally sold out for God, there is no limit to what God can do in and through me. That is the way to claim the blessings promised by God. You can live on the altar, or offer daily sacrifices; if you don't walk the path as defined by God, you cannot claim the benefits that are linked to His path. That is how easy and also how difficult it is. You have a choice to make; in fact, eternity awaits your decision. His time of favour is here.
