Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word];
Hebrews 10:23 AMP
In this time of fear, there is a need to audit our hearts and critically consider where we started from, where we are now and where we need to be. Today's extract is addressed to believers, washed by the blood, and given access to the presence of God. The invitation must be responded to, before I can begin to lay claim to the blessings and benefits promised by God.
First, have I confessed hope? True hope lies in a life that has no end, and you only find this in the One called Life Himself. No one else can guarantee this endless life. Life as we know it now can be taken in an instant. Think about this: if the owner of life were to ask for it today, where do you think you will wake up? Eternity depends on your response.
And if you have confessed hope in the past, are you still holding on to it without wavering? Have the circumstances of life shaken you so badly that you are considering quitting or compromise? Remember, only those who hold on to the end without wavering get the reward promised. It doesn't matter how long you hold on; the end is the basis of the reward. Men like, Demas and Judas Iscariot started well, but the recorded end wasn't good. Very clearly, the owner of life says: 'those who endure to the end shall be saved'.
And we have the undeniable power of the Owner and Preserver of Life to rely on in these strange times. He puts out His reputation on the line, telling us to trust Him and depend totally on Him. If you do not hold on to something in these turbulent times, the winds and the storms will sweep you away. If what or who you hold on is not fixed and stable, both you and the support will also be swept away. You just must know who you want to hold on to. You just must know what you are getting into from the choices that are available for you.
God's Word is reliable. He has been at work since creation, and his standards remain the same, no matter how complicated or complex life gets. He is the only stable and consistent portion of life, and His offer of life stands, until it is withdrawn either by physical death or His return. All that is happening right now points to a shaking and a change in focus. You must be ready for more uncertainty, but the One who rules in your life will determine whether you respond out of hope or fear. The choice is mine. His time of favour is here.
