Actions are like the outward evidence of inner thoughts. Men are judged by the things they do, but even physical, man-made laws recognise the power of intentions and can punish actions based on intentions. If earthly laws can deduce and punish actions based on intentions, imagine what the Lord of all the earth, the One who created the heart, can do.
In all I do, the foundation must be based on a relationship with the God who made the heart and cannot be deceived. I could act in a certain way, or speak in a certain way. Man may be swayed by what I do or how I do it, but the silent why is laid bare before God. This is why I must act in the name of the Lord Jesus. If I know I bear His name, I will be careful about my actions. If I know His name and reputation are at stake, won't I be careful to defend it?
Man sees the action; God starts with the intentions. Man could judge based on what he sees, and still yet be wrong. God judges based on the inner thoughts and He is never wrong. If I know this and act accordingly, I bring praise and glory to God through my life. When I think and act right, maybe not all men will appreciate it, but God promises to take glory in and through me. It doesn't really matter what is the quality and quantity of the opposition against me; as long as God is happy with me, it will always end in praise.
God is seeking for people through whom He can shine. He is seeking people whose hearts are totally sold to Him. He is looking for people who flow through Him before they seek to affect their world. Are you one of them? Am I? Will God be glorified with the results of the audit of my present life? Eternity hangs on that answer. His time of favour is here.
