A man's heart deviseth his way: But the LORD directeth his steps. Proverbs 16:9 KJV
The Inspiration:
It is expected that I make good plans; it will be termed foolishness if I just coast through life with the mentality that 'anything goes'. The man who wrote this proverb would know, as the bible records he waa the wisest man of his time, and even after. God promised that as long as Solomon obeyed his commamds, He would bless him beyond imagination, and because God is faithful, He did as promised. God has no issues with my beautiful and well-crafted plans; what He needs me to do is to make these plans with Him. How would I imvest so much time, energy and resources into a venture that God will not bless or approve of? Why waste my life on a pursuit with no gain, and no life at the end of it?
The Contention:
A man's heart is the place of struggles and challenges. It is the seat of emotions and feelings, and that is where the seeds of both allegiance and rebellion to or against God are first planted, before they then begin to manifest. The bible also enjoins me to guard my heart with all diligence, because from it flowa the issues of life. It is also not a place that can be empty, because at all times, you are faced with decisions to be made and steps to be taken. Imagine the consequences of a heart that God does not own or control; just imagine the chaos and confusion that will arise as a result of thst unbroken and unregenerated heart. God will not use it for any long-term impact; so that God's great treasures are not treated with contempt by the world.
The Conclusion:
I must make plans, but I must also keep them fluid enough for God's perfect willl to shine through. The authority in heaven knows, determines and directs the future, and He is the only one qualified to guide and lead a man in life. The structure and path that draw plans from a man's heart to his actual steps is very complex; we have seen or heard great ideas perish because of bad timing, improper execution or even personal flaws in the character of the person involved. I must not leave God out of any plans or pursuits; I will not succeed. Men may applaud for a while when it seems to work, and will definitely mock when it all goes to pieces. Trust in the Lord who has never failed, who knows the end from the beginning and can make the most beautiful pottery out of broken shards. He waits for you and I. God's time of favour is here.
