Renewed!

Renewed!

but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 KJV

The Inspiration:
We are in a generation that celebrates labour and effort. Reward is tied to what can be physically measured. You can't fault this process, as there is no other way to determine reward. We set up races and sports, rewarding the one who can run fastest, jump highest, or swim fastest, but there is no such way to measure the spiritual and the eternal. Even for the men and women who run, jump or swim, there comes a time when the physical effects of labour and effort would begin to tell, = would have to retire, and move on to less strenuous activities. Some only compete in these sports for 12 years, some until they are 38, but they cannot keep at it forever. That is the way of the world, but there is yet another reality, and this is about labour and effort backed up by God.

The Expectation:
God also calls us to labour, but He does not need the physical side first. He needs me to first understand that by strength shall no man prevail. The things the world celebrates and rewards have no place with God. You do not hear the gun and still wait; the sound of the gun is for you to run, jump or swim. With God, you can't start the race until you have first surrendered all the ideas and concepts you have at the feet of Jesus, and then wait for him to tell you how and when to start. That is 'waiting' upon the Lord. You know the commanding officer personally, you recognise His voice, and you await instructions before you start to labour. Don't expect him to bless any endeavour He has not commanded. If I wait for instructions, I cannot be late, because I am acting on orders.

The Conclusion:
The reward is for obedience, not labour. The world rewards position, while God rewards the discovery, pursuit and fulfilment of purpose. Those that wait on the Lord will renew their strength; this will not make sense to a world that has been taught to hustle. As I wait on God, I get principles and guidance that will set me up for impact. I can run and not be weary, and walk and not faint. I can even soar like eagles, because I am not relying on my own strength or ability, but on divine supply of grace. The world will continue to teach its own how to obtain, but God continues to teach His own how to wait. Of what use is laying hold of that which has no eternal value? Why not seek God out today, so you can lay hold of that which is truly life? God's time of favour is here.
