Favour!

Favour!

‭‭‭‭Psalms‬ ‭147:11‬ ‭AMP‬‬
The Lord favors those who fear and worship Him [with awe-inspired reverence and obedience], Those who wait for His mercy and lovingkindness.

Just before the verse above, you read such words as these: "He does not delight in the strength (military power) of the horse, Nor does He take pleasure in the legs (strength) of a man". There is a limit to that which man originates. There is an end to anything that man births, if we can call it that. There is no benefit in relying on human strength, power or wisdom; these have all failed to change the dynamics in any way. Man can run as fast and as far as he wants; he can never outrun God. Man can fight as hard as he can; he can never overpower God. There is a healthy fear and awe that must flow out of my life when it comes to dealing with God. He is this mighty and awesome God, so holy that no man in his natural human state can behold his face, yet He seeks to have a relationship with me. The Lord of the universe wants to live in me and direct my life's affairs. That reality must make me very careful about my pursuits and priorities. I cannot do things my own way and expect God to just stamp my actions with his approval, even if it goes against His Word. God will not be false to the principles He has laid out in His Word.

If I will have his favour, I must deal with Him in fear, awe, reverence and obedience. With God, the minimum standard is that of obedience, borne out of a love for God. If I love God, I will desire to obey Him at all times. If I love God, it will not be difficult to also love the people He has made like me, and then placed beside me on my life's journey. I will worship him first with my life, and of course, with all that I own and hold. True worship flows out of a heart with clear understanding of the Person and Power of the One to be worshipped. It is not something to be rushed, or to be treated with levity. Also, I would learn to wait upon Him for His mercy and lovingkindness. God's mercy is given to all men, but like all free gifts, I have to respond to, accept and live by its dictates on a daily basis. He may not come at the time or in the manner I expect him to come, or the same way He came the last time, but I do know that He always shows up, and whatever He touches must reflect His grace and power. Am I truly one of His own? Does He know me as His own? God's time of favour is here.
